Journal Entry #1: Lexington and Concord
Part 1:
Watching the Revolutionary War start has been a pain. Looking at the moment I think that the British have a better chance of winning. We all know that winter will come and our soldiers don't have the best clothing. Our soldiers have to wear patched up uniforms. Most of the uniforms have millions of patches in them. When winter comes I'm sure many of our soldiers will have no shoes. Just socks or bandage wrapped feet. It will make it easy to track bloddy soldiers. Our weapons are few. Yes, we may know how to shoot a gun, but we don't shoot people on a regular basis. Plus, we have little ammunition. It will be hard to win a fight without enough gun powder. Finally, their soldiers are trained to do this, but we have more people. Their soldiers are paid professionals. This is their job and they have been trained to do it. Our soldiers are mostly volunteers. That makes them not the best at fighting the highly trained.
Part 2:
Watching the beginning of this war is hard and a bit scary. People may not be coming back. I must say that I'm scared but at the same time excited and hopeful. People fighting against the British is the scary part. They are so well trained and so well provided. When winter comes it would be no surprise for us if our soldiers get frost-bitten or freeze to death. The British though will probably have it easy with their providers back in Britian giving them warm clothes, tents, blankets, and such. But, I'm excited the British control over the colonies has been horrible. They tax every single thing we buy. Tea, sugar, and stamps, you need a stamp on every single piece of paper you use. It is so frustrating. I will be so happy if we win. That means no more of those evil taxes. Plus, I have heard that the people will vote. I'm just very hopeful that we will win. It will be like a dream come true for our country, to live and be our own country. Everybody would be so happy.
